Biography

My name is Denise Dubois.

I am a licensed esthetician and internationally certified CIDESCO Diplomat.  I have worked in the spa and beauty  industry for more than 25 years.  I am also the owner of Complexions Spa for Beauty & Wellness, the first Gold LEED Certified Spa for new construction, in the country.  We are  located at 221 Wolf Road in Albany, New York.  We have been open for more than 22 years.

To this day,  I can honestly say  I am still passionate about the work I do.  Each day that I go to work I enjoy the challenges of running a business, working with the employees, and especially our guests who visit the spa.  There is never a dull moment.

I also am a wife and a mother of 2 boys.  They are the most rewarding part of my day.  They keep me very busy, but I love the activity and energy of teenagers.

I also love exercising, pilates, my black labrador,  cooking, and sharing time with good friends and family.   There isn’t usually much time left over after that.

Interests

Love the Adirondacks, hiking, fishing, equestrian sports and thoroughbreds, good wine, skiing, golf, traveling, anything to keep active and stay fit and healthy.

Work Experience

I started my career as an esthetican in 1987 after graduating from the Catherine E. Hinds Institute of Esthetics and receiving the Merretta Gotham Hinds Award for highest achievement.  I’ve continued my training and I hold many advanced training certifcates including Dermatologic Skin Care, Laser Technician Certification, Medical Esthetics, Lymphatic Drainage, and much, much more. I am also a Internationally Certified CIDESCO Diplomat, Esthetics America Member, NCEA member and NY State Representative,  Public Member for the NY State Pharmacy Board, ISpa Member, and NY State Spa Alliance Member.  I have worked for several Board Certified Plastic Surgeons in the Capital Region as well as several area Dermatologists.  This work included developing pre and post operative skin care programs to optimize plastic surgical results and to reduce the healing time. I also developed a program for Age Management Skin Care which incorportated chemical exfoliation, micro-dermabrasion, facial treatments, injectables, and photo-rejuvenation.  I feel strongly that a combination of these modalites truly gives the most beneficial results along with the appropriate home care regimen.  I have several articles printed in professional trade journals, and I have appreared on local televison, print, and radio.  Complexions has been recognized by the US Green Building Council as the first Gold LEED certified Spa in the country for new construction, we received a bronze plaque from NYSERDA for our energy efficiency, Energy Star Small Business of the Year for 2008, Salon Today – Winner Salon of Distinction for 2009, and most recently TNG Best of the Best Salon/Spa.
